Rainier Christian Alumni
The 20011-2012 school year marks the 26th anniversary of Rainier Christian High School (formerly Kent View Christian High School; 1990-2004 and El Shaddai; 1985-1990). It has been exciting to see the changes and growth that has come to our school since it first opened its doors as El Shaddai.
Twenty four graduating classes have passed through our doors, and our alumni have gone beyond the walls of our campuses to impact the world for Christ. They are active in their churches and communities and many now serve in full-time ministry. Our alumni are also serving as witnesses for Christ in a variety of professions including accounting, business, programming, public relations, engineering, teaching, acting, and more.

Class of 2000
Cara Garland (Stivers) is married to Justin Garland, an associate pastor at Generational Hope Christian Center and assistant coach to RCHS football team. They are blessed to have 2 sons and expecting a 3rd baby. Cara also keeps busy doing hair at Creator’s Touch Studio with her mom.
Joseph Magley graduated from Westmont College in 2004, Texas Tech Medical School in 2008 and is currently Chief Resident in Family Medicine and Obstetrics at UC Davis Medical Center. He married his best friend Brittinee on July 9th, 2011 at his parent’s house in Enumclaw. Joseph and Brittinee will be traveling to Uganda for a month long medical mission trip, where John Stiefel, another Rainier Christian graduate, is working with World Vision.
Class of 2002
Michael Roberts is an active Seabee in the United States Navy. He has been serving our country since 2002 and is currently based in San Diego.
Class of 2003
Kacie (Ouano) and Evan Buetow (class of 2004) were married in 2007 and were blessed with their daughter Kalee in 2010. They currently own a home in Anchorage, Alaska. Evan is a sergeant in the US Army, stationed out of Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, and will be done in March of 2012. He has served two tours of duty, Iraq ’06-‘07 and Afghanistan ’09-’10. Kacie is blessed to stay home with Kalee Jaymes. The Buetows plan to move back to Washington in March of 2012.
Jenny Louvier (Knight) is a busy stay at home mom of 2 girls, Baylee Joy and Allie Rae. She loves spending time running her girls around to different activities and watching a friends children twice a week.
Lane and Kelsey (Tholl) Platt were married in 2008 and are currently enjoying their time living in Seattle and travelling. Lane graduated from University of Washington and is working in the Marketing department of Alaska Airlines. Kelsey graduated with her Masters from Seattle University and is working as a Nurse Practioner at UW Neighborhood Clinic in Factoria.
Class of 2004
Kristina Bennett graduated from Trinity Western University in 2008. She has recently moved to Yinchuan, China where she will be teaching English at Ningxia University for the next two years. She is excited for the ways that the Father will use her to bring light and love to her students.
Jill Carson (Schiffelbein) graduated from Biola University in 2008 with a degree in Kinesiology and minor in Bible Studies. She married David Carson in 2008 and then they moved to Denver, Colorado to begin graduate studies at University of Colorado. Jill will graduate in 2012 with a doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Jill and David have loved living in beautiful Colorado, but eventually plan on moving back to Washington to be closer to family and
friends.
Jenna (Lindberg) and Glen Petersen have a beautiful 3 year old boy named Kayden. Jenna works at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in the Sports and Spine clinic. Glen works at Office Depot while finishing school to be a teacher. They attend Faith and Victory Church in Auburn where Jenna sings with the worship team and they both work with the Missions program. They love the Lord and are living the dream!
Class of 2005
Danielle Melvin graduated from George Fox University with her degree in Psychology. She is currently enrolled at Eastern Washington University and working on getting her Masters in School Counseling.
Heather Miller graduated from Northwest Nazarene University with a degree in Christian Ministry and minor in Children’s Ministry. She has moved to Denver, Colorado where she is currently a Children’s Pastor, working with over 200 children.
Laura Shryock (Pieczonka) graduated from the Master’s College, with a degree in Kinesiology, in 2009. She is in the process of being certified as a National strength and conditioning specialist, while working at Starbucks and training athletes. Laura is currently living in Southern California and just got married in June to Wesley Shryock.
Class of 2006
Carmen Gruver (Landon) graduated in 2010 from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Communications. She is currently working as a Recruiter at Dynamic Recruiting. Carmen and her husband Nolan live in Spokane and just celebrated their one year anniversary.
Kristen (Coleman) and David Loranger are in the process of building their first home in Ravensdale, Washington. Kristen is currently in school to earn her AA in Early Childhood Education. Dave is employed at Reflections Industries.
Class of 2007
Kelsey Blome graduated from Generational Leadership in 2008 and stayed on staff for two more years. She is currently building a thriving photography business and loving being an entrepreneur. Check out her website at www.kelseylynnephotography.
Bryn Bowser graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in English Literature. She plans to attain her Masters in Romanticism from the University of Edinburgh in 2013. She loves traveling around the world and is currently spending the summer in Norway. Bryn still loves to sing and participate in local opera programs in Seattle.
Lindsey Ferguson is currently attending University of Washington and majoring in Sociology and Psychology. She will graduating in the fall of 2011 and will either be pursuing her Masters in Psychology or Nursing.
Jasmine Lee graduated from University of Washington in 2011 with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Class of 2008
Derek Brumfield will be graduating from Dordt College in 2012 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a Minor in Spanish. Derek loved spending his 2011 Spring Semester on a mission trip to Nicaragua where he completed an internship.
Ryan Brumfield will be graduating from Dordt college in 2012 with a degree in Biology.
Kati Hronek will be graduating from the University of Portland in 2012 with a degree in marketing. She is beginning her 4th year of volleyball at UP and was named West Coast Conference honorable mention as well as WCC player of the week during the 2010 season.
